Photogs for Sprogs

So it looks likee we’re going to have a lot of time on our hands!

And I’ve been trying to think of ways to bring together my job - I’m a family photographer - with the current situation - needing to keep 3 young boys occupied and happy (and I include myself in that last one!).

My 6 year old absolutely loves playing with a camera. In fact, most kids do! When I do a family photo shoot, I always make sure the kids have the chance to look at and use (under supervision of course!) my camera - they just love it!

So, I devised some photography related activities for my 6 year old to do and then realised other people might like to use them too!

So here they are!

Things you’ll need: a camera! It can be anything which takes a picture: an ipad, one of those kids cameras, an old point & shoot, a disposable, a polaroid or a camera phone.

The ‘Quick Fire Challenges’ are ones the kids can easily go off and do themselves if you need some peace; the others are ones they will need some help with. But, I had a blast doing all of them with my kids so enjoy it too if you can!

Obviously with the current restrictions in place, these activities are designed to be done in your home or garden!

The activities could be done all at the same time or over the course of a few days so just go with whatever suits your kids.

And of course, the best thing is to give them the freedom to just enjoy having a camera, documenting their days as they see them.

And if your kids are anything like mine, they’ll love a competition so I’m going to challenge them to pick their favourite photo and send them to me using hashtag #photogsforsprogs where I’ll share them on my account.

Credits!

I should add that all the photos taken in the resource were taken by my kids!

And the idea for a kind of photo scavenger hunt came from the amazing five minute mum - go check her out on instagram or read my review of her book in one of my previous blogs!

Why not think about printing out the photos your kids have take, make them into a memory book or a powerpoint presentation to send to the grandparents? I’d love to know what you do so let me know!
