Gloucestershire Newborn Photographer ~ what's holding you back from booking a newborn photo session?

As a newborn baby photographer based in Gloucestershire, I love nothing more than capturing these unique and fleeting moments for new families.

But, inviting anyone into your home just after you’ve had a baby is a big deal and I totally understand (and remember feeling the same way myself) the hesitations that people can feel about booking a newborn photo session.

So, I thought I’d talk through some of the questions and concerns I often hear…

What if my baby just wants to feed all the time?

Three babies of my own and it still astounds me how much they eat when they’re so tiny! So, there’s a pretty good chance they will need a feed while I’m there but as my sessions are very much baby-led, we just go with it. Feeding, sleeping, more feeding - it doesn’t matter; I’ll just capture them as they are.

What if my baby is unsettled?

Then we do whatever makes them feel settled. If your baby wants to be held and cuddled throughout the session then that’s where I’ll photograph them - in your arms; if they want to stretch and have a kick-about on a blanket then that’s where I’ll photograph them. No posing; just genuine moments.

What if I don’t have time to clean my whole house before the session?

If you’ve just had a baby, the last thing you want to be doing is spring cleaning your entire house! So, when I arrive, I figure out where the best natural light is and then I can just help you to prepare the space that we need and possibly shuffle a few bits of furniture as necessary.

What if I don’t know what to wear?

The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and confident in your clothes, especially if you’re nursing. Before the session, I’ll send you my preparation guide which includes lots of tips about colours and styles. I also really encourage you to send me photos of possible outfits so we can chat about your options and figure out what will look and feel best for you.

So you can probably tell, my newborn photo sessions are relaxed, calm and very much focused on capturing your beautiful new family, just as they are.
