Cheltenham Family & Newborn Photographer ~ is my home big enough for a photo shoot?

As a family & newborn photographer in Cheltenham who absolutely loves to shoot their photo sessions in peoples’ homes, one of the hesitations my families often have is whether their home is big enough, particularly for photographs of their new baby. Sadly, we can’t all live in huge farmhouses in The Cotswolds like The Beckhams, but my response will always be the same: as long as you have windows, the size of your house does not matter one jot!

I need those windows for the light but other than that, I just need you and your baby and I can make the magic happen and give you the newborn photographs you love.

So, I thought I’d share one of my favourite newborn photography sessions from a lovely family in Cheltenham so you can see how I made a small space work!

Behind the Scenes!

I took a photo of this lovely ‘in between moment’ when big sister wanted to take some photos of her new baby brother but it also shows you a little more of the space we used.

When I first arrive in a home for a photo session, I go on a light hunt! I promise I’m not snooping around your house - I’m just looking for the best light! And this corner of their kitchen-diner was where it was at. But, it was also a play area - all the walls had shelves and toy boxes against them and the floor was full of toys. So, I got to work - with the help of dad, we quickly moved the storage units from the back wall and piled the toys on a table just behind me; and we moved this lovely yellow chair into the space. And that’s all we needed!

As a photographer in Cheltenham and The Cotswolds, I have worked in a real variety of homes. And while I often use rooms like the bedroom or the nursery, quite simply, we go where the light is! So, you just need to trust me - it might not be the room you’d planned or expected to use but we can still get the beautiful photos of your newborn that you’ve dreamed of.

So, I hope this has shown that the size of a house has no bearing on the beautiful images I can create for you and your family. As long as I have light and plenty of love and connection to capture then this special time in your lives can be documented forever.
